Neighbours releases final ever cast photo ahead of show ending

 Neighbours has commemorated the "class of 2022".

Neighbours has released its last ever cast photo, as the Australian soap prepares to come off air for good.

Neighbours, which is set to wrap this August, shared its final promotional shot of the year on social media, with the full cast posing alongside one another.

Ahead of the series' final episodes, and the beginning of the end of an era, Neighbours paid tribute to its "class of 2022".

While Neighbours fans will be no doubt thrilled to see its current stars all together, the soap will also be welcoming back some familiar and iconic faces from its past when it draws to a close later this year.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan will reprise their roles as Charlene and Scott Robinson for the show's upcoming conclusion, after more than 30 years away from Erinsborough.

Speaking to Inside Soap about re-recruiting the pair for the farewell, Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison revealed just how little persuading Kylie and Jason needed to get involved.

"They both appreciate the show and the special role that it has played in their careers," he said. "It's a lovely show of respect to Neighbours, and I was thrilled when they said yes. It didn't feel right to end the show without them."

In slightly less unsurprising news, Scott and Charlene's return scenes are set to be "emotional".

"Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them," Herbison said in a previous statement.

"We are thrilled that Jason and Kylie have come home to play a very special part in our series finale. It has been an emotional experience for them, for us and I'm sure it will be for our viewers."

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 and streams on My5. In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach and streams on 10 Play.
