Neighbours star Georgie Stone "always" wanted Mackenzie Hargreaves wedding episode

 Mackenzie and Hendrix have exchanged their vows.

Neighbours star Georgie Stone has spoken to  about her character Mackenzie Hargreaves getting married.

Tuesday's episode on Channel 5 (June 7) saw Mackenzie tie the knot with her partner Hendrix Greyson, as the young couple shared a beautiful ceremony at the Melbourne Zoo.

The pair fast-tracked their wedding plans following the recent news of Hendrix's illness, realising that they didn't want to waste any time.

Speaking to Digital Spy about this milestone moment for Mackenzie, Georgie explained: "I secretly always wanted to do a wedding, but I thought that because I was playing a teen, that would never happen.

"I thought that you might as well get the full Neighbours experience while you're on the show, so when I found out this would happen, I was really excited.

"When I first heard about the wedding, I didn't know that Neighbours was going to be ending. We thought that it could end, but it might keep going, so we weren't sure if this was going to be the show's last ever wedding or not. I'm not giving away whether it is the last one, as who knows what could happen?

"But it's a beautiful wedding and I'm happy that we got to do one."

She continued: "The wedding episode was really beautiful. It was emotional but also heartwarming. It was the fairytale that Mackenzie has always wanted, but never dared to dream could come true.

"We've brought up this love of fairytales that Mackenzie has before, so the wedding really is this beautiful time of happiness for Mackenzie and for Hendrix. It's really romantic and it really shows how much Mackenzie and Hendrix love each other.

"It's just a classic Neighbours wedding, which is just really awesome and I feel really lucky that I got to be a part of it. It's something I know the fans will really love.

Last year, Georgie admitted that she had reservations when she first heard that Mackenzie and Hendrix would be paired up as a couple.

However, asked about that in our new chat, she laughed: "I was completely wrong! They are a beautiful couple and they really round each other out.

"They've grown so much before getting into a relationship and they've grown in the relationship too.

"They really are perfect for each other and I'm glad that gets to be immortalised in this wedding."

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 6pm on Channel 5 and streams on My5. In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach and streams on 10 Play.
