Neighbours confirms details of Joel Samuels' return story after 20-year absence
It's a 'House of Trouser' reunion.
Neighbours will come to an end next week but before we say goodbye to the residents of Ramsay Street for good, we have some old faces to welcome back.
One of those making a return for the final week is Joel Samuels, which marks the first time that Daniel MacPherson has reprised the role since he left in early 2002.
Joel makes a surprise return to wish his old mate Toadie Rebecchi good luck as he gets ready to tie the knot with Melanie Pearson.
And he gets a surprise himself when he sees that Toadie has put number 30 up for sale so that he and Melanie can have a fresh start with the kids somewhere new.
But while Joel and Toadie catch up and he enjoys getting to know Melanie, he is filled in on Amy's sudden disappearance after she admitted that she has feelings for Toadie and can’t bring herself to be there for the wedding.
Joel is just as surprised by Amy’s declaration as Toadie and Melanie are, and the three of them try to work out what could have caused her to feel the way she does.
But there is still a wedding to plan, so Toadie and Melanie focus on that – and are over the moon when Callum returns to be a part of the big day.
With Melanie and Toadie ready to say their vows and start a new life together, will Amy stay away, or is she set to turn up and throw another last-minute spanner in the works?
Joel’s return marks another 'House of Trouser' reunion and follows previous returns from the likes of Lance Wilkinson, Stuart Parker, and Connor O’Neill.
His original stint ran from 1998 to 2002 and Joel was front and centre for some huge stories – including the memorable '98 finale that saw him pinned under a car with rising waters.
