Hollyoaks star Eva O'Hara reveals severity of Verity's mysterious attack

"Verity is really fighting for her life."

Hollyoaks star Eve O'Hara has opened up on a shock attack on her character Verity Hutchinson next week, saying she will be "fighting for her life".

The soap is currently exploring a radical misogyny storyline, with Verity's brother Eric at the centre of an incel forum.

While she's trying to reform him, she questions whether prison may be the best option for Eric. While he breaks down begging her to not give up on him, she later secretly takes his phone to post on his hate-filled online forum as herself, saying that Eric won't be speaking to the group anymore.

She is then shocked to discover horrible messages about Maxine, and after Eric learns from Mason that she has stolen his phone, he manages to get it back, posting that he will sort out Verity.

While desperately trying to call Maxine, Verity is then attacked by an unseen assailant.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Eve said the scenes are "wild", explaining of her next steps: "Verity is really fighting for her life. But she doesn't give up easily, so she does manage to find her way – albeit very injured – into the village. And she finds Tony."

After stumbling into the village during the tree-lighting ceremony during Tony's speech, an ambulance is thankfully called, with Eric breaking down as he accompanies her to the hospital.

"There is obviously a lot of ambiguity about who attacked her," Eve noted. "Could it have been Eric? He's apologetic and asking for forgiveness, but it's not clear whether that's for the attack, or just for the life he's led."

The actress also admitted that the scene "was tough to film", adding that they "had actual paramedics there, so it felt incredibly real".

Hollyoaks streams first on All 4, with new episodes dropping each weekday morning. The show airs Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, and at 7pm on E4.
