The actor posted a sweet photo of the pair of them to his Instagram, writing: "Happy 30th birthday to this absolute beauty !! 🎂 @missdrewmerry93 Have a fantastic day/week/month or however long you manage to drag this birthday on for 🙄🤣 Life begins at 30…. 🥂 xx"

Previously, Khan opened up about the difficult storyline her character recently went through on Coronation Street, in which Alya was the victim of a stabbing.

She said that while filming the scene, she actually struggled to hold back the tears as it felt so real.

"The words on the page were just so well written and summed up everything that Alya had been through – and I found it really difficult to read, because all of the emotions just felt so real on the surface," Sair said.

"You don't just want to cry through a performance, but I was really trying to hold back the tears."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
