Home and Away casts new regular Jo - with "explosive backstory" and link to Summer Bay

 Jo reunites with her family - but will they be able to make amends?

Home and Away is set to welcome a new regular character with an “explosive backstory” and previous links to Summer Bay.

Maddison Brown will be joining the soap as Jo in coming months and, although it’s not confirmed exactly what her storyline will be, the announcement promises her arrival will be eventful.

The announcement reads: “It’s revealed that Jo has family ties in Summer Bay - however, her arrival in town is anything but a happy family reunion.

Will this fractured family be able to repair?! Don’t miss a moment as Jo’s explosive backstory unfolds…”

Maddison is an Australian actor and model, whose previous credits include Strangerland, where she played the daughter of Nicole Kidman and Joseph Fiennes, and TV series The Kettering Incident, where she played a young Elizabeth Debicki.

She also appeared in US TV series Dynasty as Kirby Anders between 2018 and 2022.

Home and Away has recently confirmed that four characters will be in danger in upcoming scenes for Australian-paced episodes.

Next week, Theo, Lacey, Sonny and Dana will be ambushed by River Boys, who are looking for revenge after Theo and Lacey tipped off the police on their leader Gage for trying to kill Theo.

In a preview, Theo, Lacey, Sonny and Dana are seen in a car together on their way to court to testify against Gage.

Their car comes to a sudden halt when they come up to a large tree branch blocking the road. Moments later, a group of men wearing balaclavas emerge, armed with baseball bats.

The group panics as the men approach their car. Will they escape?
