Neighbours to air a final Harold Bishop twist after emotional exit

Harold gives Agnes a warm welcome.

Neighbours is set to air one final twist in Harold Bishop's storyline following the fan-favourite character's emotional exit.

In December, Harold actor Ian Smith announced that he'd be leaving the soap, after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Back in April, Neighbours aired Harold's final episode, bidding an emotional farewell to the character after 38 years on the Australian soap.

In the episode, Harold announced that he was moving back to Queensland permanently to live with his granddaughter Sky Mangel.

The soap previously confirmed that Harold's story wasn't quite over, with executive producer Jason Herbison revealing that Harold will be in one more scene.

In scenes set to air on Monday 26 May and Tuesday 27 May, things are looking up for Agnes, who receives some good news about her novel.

After sending her novel manuscript to Harold, which was previously rejected by another publisher, he passed it on to a publisher in Port Douglas who reaches out to Agnes, showing a keen interest in her work.

In their positive first phone call, the publisher requests some revisions to the novel, which will take months of work.

Agnes is invigorated by the possibility and, after a request to visit Port Douglas to discuss it in person, Agnes is thrilled at the chance to see Harold in person.

Max pitches the idea to Agnes of moving to Port Douglas for a few months, so she can work with the publisher of her new book and spend some more time with her friend Harold.

Agnes is tempted but hesitant about how Harold might feel if she just lands on him like that, but Susan helps Agnes to work through her doubts, telling her Harold wouldn't have kept up a long-distance friendship if he didn't value it.

Susan is proved right when Agnes decides to surprise Harold by turning up at his door. There, she is greeted by the warmest of welcomes.
