"Is Abby about to fall for the Bay’s newest heartthrob?"

Home and Away has released a new teaser trailer, giving fans a first look at two new characters. Among the new characters is a new police officer, who looks set to butt heads with Senior Constable Cash Newman.

In the new teaser, fans were treated to a look at the recently announced Nicole da Silva, who is on board to play Dr Amelia Carlisle, and newcomer Rocco Forrester-Sach, who is set to star as Yabbie Creek police recruit Richie Brezniak (via The West).

Narrated by Alf Stewart, the teaser for the Australian soap shared a look at some of the moments set to take place in Summer Bay in the coming months.

In an official press release, Home and Away confirmed that Rocco's character will ruffle some feathers at the station.

It reads: "Rookie Richie’s enthusiasm is set to test Senior Constable Cash Newman’s (Nicholas Cartwright) patience, and off-duty, he is poised to make waves with Abby Fowler (Hailey Pinto). Is Abby about to fall for the Bay’s newest heartthrob?"

Nicole's casting was announced earlier this month, with the star confirming that filming had already begun for what is described as a regular role.

She is known for her portrayal of Franky Doyle in the acclaimed Australian prison drama Wentworth, a modern-day reimagining of the '80s prison drama Prisoner.

Explaining why she decided to join the cast of Home and Away, Nicole said: "My reasons are twofold, or maybe even threefold.

"To be honest, it was a great opportunity, and it came at exactly the right time: I am a single parent, and to be able to live and work in Sydney, where I am raising my daughter, meant we could stay around our community [and be around] our friends and our family.

"It meant I could provide that consistency - and that was a big, key element."
