"We can't get him back soon enough."

Home and Away star Ray Meagher has called for the return of a co-star after a recent onscreen reunion, while speaking about their longtime friendship.

Meagher, known for playing Alf Stewart on the Aussie soap, got to share the screen again with retuning star Stephen Peacocke, who made a comeback to Home and Away as Darryl 'Brax' Braxton.

After Brax bid farewell once again in scenes aired Down Under this week, Meagher said they "can't get him back soon enough", though conceded that a return for Peacocke's character, Ricky (played by Bonnie Sveen) and their son Casey (Austin Cutcliffe) "may take a while" (via TV Week).

Meagher and Peacocke had some scenes together during Brax's return, with the Alf actor sharing that he "was looking forward to it".

"We always have a good yarn and he's just world class," he said.

"We get on exceptionally well," Meagher added about his friendship with Peacocke.

You know, we're both bushies; I'm from the Queensland bush [in Roma] and Steve is from the New South Wales bush [Dubbo], and we're both former rugby players. We have a lot in common and he's a pleasure to be around."

After returning to Summer Bay with Ricky and Casey, Brax was disappointed to find out that the River Boys, of which he once was the leader, have turned into a vigilante-style gang and are wreaking havoc on the town.

Looking to clear his head, Brax headed to the beach, where he found Alf fishing, with the pair sharing a sweet moment, reminiscing about the old times.
