Can her loved ones change her mind?

EastEnders’ Denise Fox finds herself torn in all directions next week when her health takes a turn for the worst, and distressed Chelsea looks to her mum for support.

Having been diagnosed with blood cancer, Denise needs to put herself first. But that’s not easy after the recent accident that has left the Fox, Trueman and Branning clans reeling…

Denise remains adamant that it’s not the right time to share her cancer diagnosis with the rest of the family," begins our insider, "but time is not on her side, and there could be serious consequences to that decision. As for Chelsea, she’s about to get another devastating bombshell of her own…"

Denise is still trying to get her head around having acute myeloid leukaemia, and Jack and Yolande are the only ones currently in the know. The main reason for Denise not wanting to tell the rest of her blended brood her difficult news is the accident caused by Ian that has left Chelsea’s son Jordan in a terrible state.

Despite wanting to be there for her daughter, Denise can’t stick her head in the sand forever – and the latest medical advice is not what she wants to hear…

"Denise is understandably nervous as she attends her latest appointment," reveals our source. "She’s floored as the doctors explain she needs to be admitted immediately to have essential treatment.

"Not wanting to be apart from Chelsea, or give her more to worry about, Denise flatly refuses and insists she’ll carry on as normal for as long as she can. Jack is concerned his wife is putting herself at risk, but stubborn Denise won’t have it any other way.

Denise does her best to keep her own pain private and put a brave face on for her daughter and grandson, as they await news on Jordan’s condition. Unfortunately, Denise’s health starts to rapidly deteriorate, making it harder to hide what she’s going through.

Despairing Jack turns to Yolande and reveals that Denise was warned by her doctor that delaying the treatment she needs may be dangerous and hinder her chances of pulling through.

Yolande urges Jack to do whatever it takes to convince Denise to take action, but her mind is made up. Trying to reason with his wife once more, Jack is put in his place by Denise who won’t be swayed.

As the week goes on, Chelsea gets an update on her son’s progress – and sadly, it’s not great news…

"Jordan needs rehabilitation after what he’s gone through," explains our insider. "However, Chelsea is told that there’s a chance it might not work. What exactly is wrong with Jordan, and is there any hope he’ll make a full recovery?"

There’s a long road ahead for Chelsea and she’ll need her family in the coming months, but how would she react if she knew what Denise was sacrificing to be there for her?
