EastEnders' Amy plans sudden Walford escape after shocking Joel confession

EastEnders’ Amy Mitchell makes a plan to suddenly leave Albert Square next week, following her game-changing confession about Joel Marshall. Since Joel was hit over the head with a hammer last month on the night the teens took revenge on him, the police have been investigating who carried out the violent attack.

In a major twist this week, Amy admitted to DC Craig Ingram that it was her who attacked Joel and put in hospital, as she reached breaking point when things escalated that night.

Amy and Craig have been growing dangerously close in recent weeks, and the pair were speaking in confidence – but new spoilers reveal that next week, Amy panics about having confessed the truth to the man investigating the case.

She approaches Craig and asks him to keep her confession a secret. Craig irresponsibly makes it clear to Amy that he will do her best to protect her, but reasons that they are both compromised now he knows what she did.

Shortly afterwards, Craig heads to the station and is stunned to be suspended from public duty policing by his superior, as a serious complaint has been made against him. He is taken off the Joel case as a result, which may make it easier if he is to keep Amy’s secret.

The walls are closing in on Amy though, who is alarmed when her dad Jack tells her that the police are likely to find Joel’s attacker. She makes a huge decision about her future and plans to run away from Walford as soon as possible.

Before she can make a swift escape from the Square, Craig rumbles her plan and stops her in her tracks – and it doesn’t look like she’ll be leaving any time soon.

As the week continues, Amy has another tense argument with Joel, who seemingly doesn’t remember that she is his attacker. Vicki gets involved when she spots the teens rowing and rages at Amy for stirring the pot.

Overwhelmed by the stress and guilt of covering up her huge secret, Amy meets up with Craig for another chat. Craig tells the vulnerable teen that he will always be there for her, and Amy is grateful to the copper for promising his support.

But will Craig really keep Amy’s confession to himself, and will his concerning behaviour continue?
