EastEnders confirms Penny birth drama as someone discovers baby bombshell

 EastEnders’ Penny Branning finally becomes a mum next week – and the truth about her baby’s paternity is about to be exposed!

The arrival of her newborn son is cause for celebration, until someone on the Square cottons onto the fact Vinny’s probably not the dad. But who else knows the truth?

Baby Branning is here at last!" says our EastEnders insider. "But while the Panesars welcome the tot into their family, little do they know he could be half-Mitchell!

"Penny has done her best to convince Vinny’s he’s the father and keep her other potential baby daddy Harry out of the picture. That proves harder after an incriminating conversation between Penny and Lauren is overheard…"

It’s Vinny’s 30th birthday, so he’s already in the mood to party. Wanting to make her partner’s day as special as possible, Penny teams up with the rest of the Panesar clan to throw a big bash.

Penny feels guilty about the fact that Vinny might not be her child’s biological dad, so she confides in Lauren, telling her she owes it to Vinny to confess the truth – though her cousin thinks rocking the boat is a bad idea.

Determined to do the right thing, Penny plans to come clean to the birthday boy at his party, only to be stopped in her tracks…

Suki upsets Penny, who heads outside to get her head together before talking to Vinny," explains our source, "then her waters suddenly break. Ready or not, this baby is coming!"

The mum-to-be is rushed to hospital to be prepped for the birth, while back at the party Vinny has no idea what’s going on as he’s a little worse for wear! Realising he’s no use to Penny in this state, Gina and Harry desperately try to sober Vinny up before he goes anywhere.

On the labour ward, Suki and Jack do their best to keep Penny calm, but she can’t help the panic rising. Thankfully, Vinny makes it in the nick of time as Penny proudly delivers her baby boy.

Later, the new mum has a moment alone with Lauren, who comes to wish her relative well – and ask if she’s still intent on revealing all to Vinny.

Penny explains to Lauren she’s had a change of heart and has decided to keep quiet," reveals our insider. "Thinking they’re alone, the pair openly discuss Penny’s paternity secret – only somebody has heard every word!"

The following day, the mystery eavesdropper makes themselves known to Penny when they confront her at the baby’s Naam Karan ceremony.
