Home and Away's Mackenzie Booth to say a heartbreaking goodbye to Gabe

Mac decides it's finally time to let go.

Home and Away's Mackenzie Booth will face her heartbreak head-on in scenes airing in the UK on Channel 5 next week, as she says what could be a final goodbye to her on-off partner, Gabe Miller.

UK viewers recently saw Gabe slip away from Summer Bay after he discovered that his cancer had returned, as he worried that the strain of helping him through his treatment might be too much for Mac.

After Mac discovered that her ex-fiancé Gabe had left her for the second time, leaving behind an emotional note for her, she decided to go to visit her mum to get away from the Bay for a while.

Unfortunately, in Mac's sudden absence, things are beginning to unravel over at Salt. While newlywed Felicity Newman is reluctant to leave behind the magic of her honeymoon with new husband Tane Parata, it seems that reality has very much come knocking at the restaurant.

Felicity discovers that Salt's liquor licence will expire at 5pm, unless the licensee signs for renewal. But there's a pretty big problem with that: Mackenzie is the licensee, and nobody knows where she is.

There's a twist when Mali Hudson, who has the keys to Mac's house while she's away, shows up at her place and is surprised to find that she's back home, but is still laying low. Mackenzie admits that, after she left, she actually went searching for Gabe, but to no avail.

Mac feels even worse when she learns that Felicity and Tane got married while she was away. Felicity feels perplexed by Mac's frosty response to the news, and she can't help but wonder whether something terrible has happened to Gabe.

When Tane later goes to see Mackenzie, he finds her in a bad way, sitting amongst the shreds of the torn-up letter that Gabe left for her.

Snapping, Mac tells Tane the awful truth – that Gabe has left her again. She refuses to take any pity from him and instead keeps up her vicious guard as she tries to deal with her feelings.

It isn't long before John Palmer hears about Mackenzie's heartbreak and he heads over to make sure that she isn't alone with her thoughts.

A vulnerable Mac opens up to John about her greatest fear – that Gabe might have given up on treatment and could end up dying alone.

When John declares that this decision would be Gabe's to make if he chooses to, Mackenzie knows that she needs to accept this painful truth.

Deciding to leave a final voicemail for Gabe, Mackenzie says a painful goodbye to her partner.

Is this really the end of the road for Mackenzie and Gabe's relationship?

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
