Home and Away's Tane Parata discovers Kahu's lies in tense scenes
Tane feels betrayed.
Home and Away's Tane Parata makes an upsetting discovery about his cousin Kahu on UK screens next week.
Tane is disappointed when he realises that Kahu has lied to him about the reasons he wanted money.
In upcoming scenes, Tane agrees to pay the fees for Kahu's TAFE course after his cousin claims that he wants to become a qualified fitness instructor.
This comes after Kahu recently started work at the gym, being put on admin duties as he isn't allowed to train any of the clients.
Tane reluctantly parts with the cash, but when he calls TAFE for details of Kahu's class timetable, he receives the worrying news that nobody with that name has enrolled.
It turns out that Tane isn't the only one that Kahu is lying to, as he makes a phone call to his mum and keeps up the pretence that he's working on a fishing trawler.
Kahu promises his mum that he'll give her $1,500 in profits from his work on the trawler.
Tane wastes no time before confronting Kahu, demanding to know what he has really done with the money.
Realising the game is up, Kahu comes clean about how his true dream is to own and operate a fishing boat.
Kahu asks Tane whether he'll invest in his proposal, but Tane remains troubled by his deception and is hesitant to trust him again after he lied.
When Tane confides in his wife Felicity over what's going on, she suggests that Kahu is taking him for a ride.
Felicity advises Tane not to offer up any more handouts, but loyal Tane struggles with the idea of refusing a helping hand to a member of his family.
Tane tells Kahu to keep the money that he took and use it as an investment for his business dream.
Felicity is not impressed by Tane's generosity and suspects that it's only a matter of time before this ends in tears.
Kahu is hurt by Felicity's obvious lack of faith in him, so she backs off and tries to give him a break.
Despite this, Felicity is privately determined to keep an eye on Kahu so there are no more nasty surprises.
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
