Coronation Street's Nicola Thorp expecting baby with Starstruck's Nikesh Patel

 "Some news."

Former Coronation Street star Nicola Thorp has announced that she is expecting a baby with fiancé Nikesh Patel.

The pair have been in a relationship since 2021. They announced their engagement earlier this year, and appeared on the fifth series of Celebrity Hunted together as well.

In a post on Instagram today (September 29), the couple revealed that they were expecting a child together, with a roll of photos showcasing Thorp's baby bump.

Some of Thorp's former co-stars from Coronation Street commented on the post, with Catherine Tyldesley writing: "Congratulations! X". Katie McGlynn, who played Sinead Tinker on the soap, also responded, saying: "Congrats lovely."

Though Thorp departed her role as Nicola Rubinstein in 2019, the ITV soap still contains plenty of drama, with Lucy Fallon set to reprise her role as Bethany Platt in the new year.

Tina O'Brien, who plays Bethany's on-screen mother Sarah, recently revealed that she was "excited" for Fallon’s return, promising that the character would enter the village with a new "purpose".

"I didn't know [Lucy's return] was still a secret and I put something on Instagram! I was like: 'I wasn't meant to do that, was I?' The press office was like: 'No, Tina, you were not meant to do that!'" recalled O’Brien.

"I'm so excited. She's such a well-loved human, never mind character. Obviously the world loves her as Bethany and so do we, but we also love her as Lucy and she is part of our little pretend family, so I can't wait to have her back," she said.

"She's been working in London. She comes back with a purpose, but I don't know anything, really, is the honest truth!" she added.
