"You have to be careful with bringing up trauma for viewers."
Home and Away has finally confirmed who Richie Brezniak shot in Australian-paced episodes, with the actor in question breaking their silence on the shock scenes. This week saw the new cop accidentally hit a beloved character after weeks of build-up.
It was subsequently revealed that David Langham was the unfortunate victim, with his life hanging in the balance.
"You have to look after yourself, you work with the stunt coordinator, you work with the director, and the cameras, and there are great stunt people on set," he told Who. "You also have to be careful with bringing up trauma for viewers as a scene like this can raise a lot of past trauma for them."
Jeremy also said it was "exciting" to film the scene, adding: "For example, it was Rocco [Forrester-Sach]’s first time holding a gun as Richie, which was new and took a lot of work to get used to and make sure the scene was as authentic as possible."
The star further reflected on the "instability" around David's ambiguous fate, and used his "personal experience as a father" in his approach to the scene.
"For scenes like this, I just try to approach it as authentically as possible."
Teasing the future of the storyline, Richie actor Rocco previously explained that while his character wants to "make it right" in the wake of his mistake, it "might not be possible for him".
"When a life is on the line, even if a person pulls through, I think the fallout follows that person for a long time," he told The West Australian. "[Richie] has got a lot of ground to pave to try to prove to people that he is a good guy."
