EastEnders' Amy to make game-changing confession in Joel attack mystery

 Craig is determined to get answers.

EastEnders’ teens are still living in fear next week, as the search for Joel Marshall’s attacker continues. Copper Craig is on the case, and as he digs for clues he extracts confessions from more than one suspect, including agitated Amy – has he finally solved the crime?

"Everyone had an axe to grind with Joel," begins our EastEnders insider, "so practically all of the adolescents on the Square are looking guilty. Are they all covering for each other, or is one of the group manipulating the situation? Either way, Craig is on a mission, and someone is close to cracking…"

Avani, Amy, Barney, Denzel, Barney, Ricky, Will, Nugget and Lily secretly gather to discuss the latest on Joel. The atmosphere is tense, and some of the gang are clearly concealing their own agendas.

When Craig stumbles upon the guarded group, he reckons they’re up to something. Spooked by the sudden presence of a police officer, the friends swiftly disperse.

Craig sneakily probes Amy, while the schoolgirl herself is shaken by Denzel’s shifty behaviour. But they’re not the only ones arousing suspicion…

"Lily talks in hushed tones to Ricky, but they clam up when Jean arrives," notes our source. "Jean tells Kat she’s worried Lily is withholding information about the assault, then Eve reveals she saw the girl heading into Joel’s house!

Jean drags her granddaughter out as she’s talking to Joel, then sits in when she’s later questioned by Craig – where Lily divulges a new detail about the attack…"

Needing another debrief, Lily, Denzel, Amy and Avani meet at the gaming café, and get a nasty surprise when Joel shows up! Tormented by the mystery of who jumped him, Joel confronts the group, calling them out on their conspiracy of silence.

Meanwhile, nervous Barney tells Zack and Priya about the showdown, so the worried parents – along with Jean – race to break things up before the kids make everything worse.

Jean then shares with Priya and Zack what Lily told Craig the day before, and how it has impacted the investigation. As the grown-ups process this dramatic development, another secret emerges and the teens start to turn on each other.

Amy gets into a row with Jack over the latest twist, then storms off. Kat finds upset Amy and lends a friendly ear, advising her to make amends with her dad. But before Amy gets home, she’s intercepted by inquisitive Craig…

"Amy looks vulnerable, so Craig seizes his chance," teases our insider. "He knows there’s more to this whole thing than anyone is letting on, so he offers Amy a shoulder to cry on. Her defences start to crumble, and she reveals a shocking truth."

What has Amy let slip to Craig? Can he be trusted with her secret? And has her confession closed the case, or blown it wide open again?
