Her treatment takes a toll.
EastEnders is set to air some emotional scenes for Denise Fox, amid her recent cancer storyline. The mother-of-three was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, with doctors urging her to begin treatment immediately.
Denise was initially reluctant to be admitted to hospital to start her chemotherapy, as her grandson Jordan was injured in a hit-and-run accident. But after some reassurance from her family, she decided to take the doctor's advice.
Denise is facing the most difficult fight of her life," says our EastEnders insider. "She's undergoing aggressive chemotherapy to treat her equally aggressive leukaemia, and is confined to her hospital ward with only occasional visits from her loved ones."
It's really difficult to watch Denise struggling so much, but she has the support of the whole community," they added.
Meanwhile, back on the Square, things aren't going well for Denise's daughter Chelsea following her decision to let Gray Atkins's grandmother, Sheila, be a part of Jordan's life.
Things escalate when Sheila buys Jordan an expensive wheelchair for his rehabilitation, which leads to a wider conversation about her access to her great-grandson. In a heated exchange, Chelsea orders Sheila to leave - but will she go quietly?
